With in a 90 second time limit, a team of three must cut from the
herd and pen three head of cattle with the same identity number. Or
a time a lotted before the competition start. |

|
The
fastest time wins. However, teams penning three head of cattle place
higher than two, and two higher than one, regardless of time. |
|
3.
|
A warning if necessary will be given the team working the cattle at
30 seconds, prior to a final time being called. If the warning is
not given, the team will be given an immediate rerun using a different
cattle identity number. |
|
4.
|
All
cattle will be bunched on the cattle side of the starting line before
the time begins. The line flagman will raise the flag to signal when
the arena is ready. Contestants will be given their cattle penning
number when the line flagman drops the flag as the nose of the first
horse crosses the starting line. Riders must abide by the rules of
the association once they enter the arena. |

To
call for time, one rider must stand in the gate and raise a hand for
the flag. The flag will drop when the nose of the first horse enters
the gate and the rider calls for time. |
|
b)
|
At
no time is any horse allowed to enter the pen completely. The maximum
length of the horse's body that will be tolerated is any distance
between the nose and the croup. |
|
c)
|
To
remove an incorrect identity number(s) from the pen the riders must
work from the outside of the pen. |
|

|
A
team calling for time with a wrong numbered cow in the pen or over
the cow line will be disqualified.
If once time is called, a cow is partially or completely out of the
pen, only the cows entirely in the pen will be counted. |
|
7.
|
More
than three cows across the starting line at any one time will result
in disqualification. |
|
8.
|
Contact
with the cattle by hands, hats, ropes, bats, romals, reins or any
other equipment is an automatic disqualification. |
|
9.
|
A team will be disqualified by the judge for any action he/she feels
to be unnecessary roughness to the cattle or horses, or unsportsmanlike
conduct. |
|
b)
|
During the competition, a participant can be eliminated for unsportsmanlike
conduct on the show grounds without reimbursement of entry fees ie.
aggression toward the herd. |
|
10.
|
A
team has 60 seconds to present themselves in the arena once their
team number has been called or at the discretion of the judges. |
|
11.
|
Fall of horse and/or rider shall not eliminate the entry; however,
any attempt by a dismounted rider to work cattle before remounting
will result in an automatic disqualification. All three riders must
be mounted prior to calling for time. |
|
12.
|
As in all competitions, it is forbidden to show an injured horse.
|
|
13.
|
If
for any major reason, a team must delay their participation, their
time will be assigned three positions further in the same order of
go. |
|
14.
|
All
technical difficulties will result in a rerun using a different number,
either immediately or at the discretion of the judges, depending upon
the circumstance(s). |
|
15.
|
Western
attire (western hat/safety riding helmet, boots, jeans/western pants
and long sleeve shirt with the cuffs attached) is required for entry
into the riding arena.Or at the discretion of the judge. |
|
16.
|
The
contest a judge's decison (red flag )the team will make a deposit
of 100$ the Ring Manager to stop the game. The team will recover this
deposit if they are right, otherwise the R.T.P.Q.I. will keep this
amount. |
|
17.
|
A)
Any team caught receving help to find the good cows in the herb by
someone standing near the fences will be disqualifield. B) A rider
indicating the numbers cows the other teams will be disqualify for
the day. |
|
18.
|
All
participants must award the same respect to all individuals associated
with the competition, such as is given to the Judges. |
|
19.
|
The Show Manager may be consulted on a decision which is in conflict
between the two judges during any given competition. A third judge,
on the premises, may intervene to help the two judges in their decision
making process. |
|
20.
|
All
competitors must use the Ring Manager to communicate with the judges.
|
|
21.
|
The
Show Manager, has full authority for the enforcement of the rules
as specified by the judges. |
|
22.
|
Any
rider who does not respect the decision of the judges and/or does
not conduct himself/herself in a polite manner in front of the judges
and the general public will not be allowed to continue in the competition.
|
|
23.
|
Any
intentional contact by the horse or rider with the cows is not allowed.
If the contact is viewed by the judge as not being intentional, a
white flag will be shown. If there is contact a second time, be it
intentional or not , during the same go, the team will be given the
red flag and disqualified. |

|
Extreme
roughness will not be tolerated. |
|
25.
|
Shoving,
hitting, cornering, putting off balance or risking inquiry to the
herd, will result in a red flag and subsequent disqualification. |
|
26.
|
The
entry to the pen is located at 75% of the arena and the starting line
is located at 60% of the arena. The pen is 24 feet long and 16 feet
wide. The door of the pen is 10 feet wide. The pen is set up 16 feet
from the arena wall. These measurements can be changed depending on
the size of the arena. If any changes are deemed necessary, they must
be done prior to the start of the class. |

The abuse of a horse by the rider, trainer or handlers will not be
tolerated anywhere on the Show Grounds; be it in the warm-up area(s)
, the stabling area(s) or the arena. This will result in immediate
eviction from the show grounds for the day of the infraction by the
Disciplinary Committee. All Directors of the R.T.P.Q.I. have the mandate
to warn and report abusive riders, trainers or handlers. |

The
R.T.P.Q.I. and persons in charge are not responsible for accidents
involving the riders and/or horses. You compete at your own risk. |
